Military foil Boko Haram invasion into Maiduguri and 11 killed

A family of 5 and 6 other individuals were among those who were killed in a gun battle between Boko Haram members and Nigerian troops in Dala, Borno state yesterday 29th May, 2015 . According to reports, the terrorist, who came in their numbers, had tried to invade Maiduguri, the Borno state capital but met a strong resistance from the troops stationed in the area. Many residents were seriously injured as they tried running to safety. The troops repelled the attack.

President Jonathan "ENDS QUARREL" With Obasanjo

President Goodluck Jonathan seems to have improved on his relationship with former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, after sending him a rare message of commiseration on the death of his sister, Adunni Oluniola Eweje-Obasanjo. Since Obasanjo’s letter to the president went viral in December 2013, the president stopped all forms of felicitation or commiseration with the former head of state. 3 soldiers, 6 vigilante group members killed in Maiduguri BH attack

3 soldiers and six local vigilante members died during the Boko Haram attack in Maiduguri yesterday May 13th. A senior official of the state Vigilante group who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity said the six vigilante group members who died were killed while trying to help 3 women who ran to them for help when the attacks started. Unknown to them, the women were suicide bombers who had bombs strapped under their clothes which later exploded, killing 6 and injuring 12 others.

A 26-year-old mother of three simply identified as Hafsat says she hasn't seen two of her children, Bala (8) and Mohammed (6) since she was kidnapped by Boko Haram members from her village, Yaza in Borno state 11 months ago. While recounting her experience, Hafsat who now lives in the Malkohi Internal Displaced Persons Camp in Yola, Adamawa State, told CNN; "When gunmen came to my village 11 months ago, killing everyone in sight, I thought I could escape. But I was wrong."  She said the day she was abducted was the last time she saw her two sons, Bawa and Mohammed, eight and six-years-old, respectively. She was left to care alone for her third son, two-year-old Ismail pictured with her above. She said many other women were separated from their children as well:
