An Arabic teacher (Bashiru Isah) has been confirmed to remain in police custody by a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Minna, for allegedly strangling his own son. The 38-years-old, Isah was indicted on a one count charge of culpable homicide, punishable under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law. The Police prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Danladi, said in court that Aisha Bashiru, wife of the suspect, reported the matter at Lapai Police Division on Sept. 19. Danladi said the complainant alleged that on the same date at about 1:15 am, her husband, a resident of Ebbo village in Lapai, took their son into his room and strangled him to death with his hands without any reasonable excuse. However, the Magistrate, Maryam King, said the court would not record the plea of the accused because it lacked jurisdiction to try the case. King therefore directed the police to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice. The case has been adjourned to Oct. 26,

The Oluwo Fasola Faniyi's Annual Ifa and Orisa Festival which took place yesterday 17th of December, 2016 was very fantabulous and exciting. It was full of Joy, Dance and Prayer. On Tuesday, Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court Sentenced one Henry Okeke, 23, to Six (6) Months’ Imprisonment for Stealing Two (2) Cartons of Malta Guinness Drink and a Motorcycle , all valued at N155,000.   - Chief Magistrate O.A. Layinka in her judgment gave no option of fine to the convict tried for stealing. - “The accused is to serve his jail-term in Kirikiri Prison to serve as a deterrent to others,’’ she ruled. The unemployed accused is a resident of Abolaji Street, Mafoluku in Oshodi, a suburb of Lagos. - The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the convict was initially arraigned on July 18 . Then, he pleaded guilty to the offence and was subsequently remanded. - Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Donjor Perezi, during the arraignment, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 13 at his residence. A woman named Gloria At No 14b, Olu Akerele street, Balogun bus/stop off Awolowo way, Ikeja, Lagos has been arrested by the police after she blinded one of the eyes of her 12-year-old houseboy "Peter", following brutal and frequent torture.  Gloria had employed the Togo based minor to assist her with house chores but unfortunately, the housemaid has been suffering several beatings from the woman and in one of such cruel beatings, Peter lost an eye.
