Prices of Maize, Rice and other food commodities to rise in December, 2022 – Survey

One of Nigeria’s commodities market players, AFEX has forecasted a surge in prices of six food commodities, namely maize, paddy rice, sorghum, soybean, cocoa and sesame by the end of December 2022 to the first half of 2023. AFEX’s forecast is contained in its 2022 Wet Season Crop Production Report unveiled at a hybrid event hosted at the firm’s head office in Abuja on Wednesday. Woman Tortues Her 12-Year Old Housemaid To Blind

A woman named Gloria At No 14b, Olu Akerele street, Balogun bus/stop off Awolowo way, Ikeja, Lagos has been arrested by the police after she blinded one of the eyes of her 12-year-old houseboy "Peter", following brutal and frequent torture.  Gloria had employed the Togo based minor to assist her with house chores but unfortunately, the housemaid has been suffering several beatings from the woman and in one of such cruel beatings, Peter lost an eye. It was reported that the woman had beaten Peter because he did not wash the kettle properly. Instead of telling him to wash the kettle again, she descended on him and in the process, she injured his eye. One of her neighbours disclosed to the police that, Gloria is very violent and is usually avoided by everyone in the area. Uncompleted Shopping Complex Collapsed in the South-western part of Nigeria (Itoku, Abeokuta, Ogun State)

An Uncompleted Four Storey Building Shopping Complex accidentally collapsed in the South-western part of Nigeria ( Itoku, Abeokuta, Ogun State ) around 8: 30 AM with uncertain amount of people inside the building. Dead bodies are currently being evacuated from the building, as well as other injured people. At the scene of the incident, the Southwest Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yakubu Sulaimon, said that the officials of NEMA, Ogun State Fire Service and some other agencies were on ground for the rescue operations. Two injured people were discharged already and two people were confirmed dead with a recognized woman. The report is still developing as the reason for the collapse is yet unknown, we will keep you abreast as soon as more details emerge.      R.I.P to the deceased.
