Yemi Osinbajo (VP) Meets with IGP of Police in Aso Rock over IPOB vs Nigerian Army Issues

We can’t pay workers’ salaries, Benue govt. declares

BENUE State governor, Mr Samuel Ortom, has disclosed that he is unable to pay salaries of workers for about four months now because of the harsh economic situation that has taken its toll on the finances of the government. He also said the state suspended the conduct of local government elections and appointed caretaker committees because of lack of fund. Ortom spoke while fielding questions from State House correspondents shortly after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Monday. He revealed that since August 2015, allocation from the Federal Government to the state had been on the average of N4 billion while the wage bill for a month is N7.8 billion. Kano truck accident leaves 19 people dead

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says 19 persons have died in a ghastly motor accident along Kano – Katsina Road. The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the FRSC Sector Command in the state, Mr Kabir Ibrahim-Daura, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Saturday. Kabir-Daura said that the incident occurred near Lambun Garban Bichi, on the outskirts of Bichi town, around 8:30 a.m. on Friday. According to him, the incident happened when a Peugeot J5 bus and a Toyota C20 bus had a head-on collision when one of the drivers of the vehicles wanted to overtake the other vehicle at a sharp bend corner. Court remands UNIOSUN student in Jail for stabbing colleague to death

Four students of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Osun State were on Friday remanded in prison by a magistrates’ court sitting in Osogbo, for allegedly belonging to a secret cult, and also for illegally being in possession of firearms. The suspects were: Olabanji Michael,23, Adewusi Michael,23, Oyinbo Kehinde,21 and Afolabi Yusuf,23. The prosecutor, Elisha Olusegun educated the court that all the blamed people planned among themselves on the 29th of August, 2017 to submit crime to mind guns and individuals from mystery clique (Black Axe Secret Cult Confraternity). According to the prosecutor, the accused persons posed a serious threat to the public through the possession of cache of firearms in the academic community.
